Obituary for Petronella Antonia Storimans (Vermevlen)

Petronella Antonia Storimans (Vermevlen)

Peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, with family by her side, Nelly passed away at the Concordia Hospital, at the age of 86.

Nelly leaves behind her three sons Roland (Marilyn), Frank, Mark (Bea), Grandchildren Kevin (Laura), Britt (Samara), Jared, Tyrell (Andreea), Kayla (Eric), and Kelsey, Great Grandchildren Trevor, and Brett.
Nelly was predeceased by her loving husband Frank, sister in the Netherlands An, Maria, Corrie, Jeanne and her twin sister Jacqueline. She is survived by her brothers Jack and Frans as well as many nieces and nephews in Canada and abroad.

Nelly left the Netherlands with her husband Frank, two children Roland, Frank JR, and with Mark to be born in Canada shortly after their arrival in 1961. Nelly was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first, right up to her last days. She would always be sure have our favourite meal or treats available whenever we came to visit. Sometimes walking 6 blocks through the snow and Ice covered sidewalks to go to the store to get items she new we liked or to get the ingredients for her famous lemon pound cake.

Nelly worked at various jobs until her and Frank fulfilled their dream of owning a business. They owned and operated the Belgian Bakery for 15 years before retirement. Nelly and Frank spent retirement years between Lake Havasu Arizona and West Hawk Lake, which they always considered to be their true home. They loved to have their grandchildren and stay a while during summer and to the grand kids they were known as “Lake” Grandma and Grandpa. Every trip to the lake was filled with excitement form the kids to see their Oma and Opa and in delicious anticipation of Oma’s awesome lemon pound cake.

Nelly is sadly missed by her Children, Grand and Great Grand children as well as extended family and many friends and acquaintances here in Canada and in the Netherlands. Nelly donated regularly to several charities over the years and especially to the Canadian Cancer Society, in lieu of flowers donations can be made in her memory at Cancer.ca

A celebration of Nell’s life will be held for family and friends at Shooters Family Centre, 2731 Main Street, Winnipeg, Mb, from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Saturday, March 10, 2018.
