Obituary for Rene Joseph Leo Beaulieu

Rene Joseph Leo Beaulieu
Rene J.L Beaulieu (March 19, 1945 - March 11, 2018)

It is with profound sadness to have to announce the loss of my high school sweetheart, soul mate and beloved husband Rene who passed away in my loving arms just one week shy of his 73rd birthday. I feel very blessed to have shared 48 beautiful wedded years with him.
Survived by myself Wendy, are our loving children David and Patricia, son-in-law Robert Houtkooper, and two very precious grandsons Matthew and Zachary. Siblings; Paul, Leo, Therese, Louis, Marie, Jean (Michelle), Jeannine Du, Philippe (Rose), Jeanne d’Arc (Craig Johnstone), as well as my brothers Colin McRae, Brent McRae (Barb) and numerous nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Bernadette, sister Madeleine, sister-in-laws Monique and Georgette, brother- in-law Dr. Joseph Du, baby nephew Claude, in-laws William (Bill) and Joyce McRae, brother-in-law Wayne McRae and sister-in-law Sharon McRae.
Rene was born and raised in St. Boniface. He loved playing his guitar and throughout his teens he was in a few rock ’n’ roll bands. We were married in 1969 and started our young family a few years later. Rene decided to return to school where he obtained his B.A. at College Saint Boniface. He was employed at the CBC, retiring after 30 years of service.
In addition to his family and music, his passion was the cabin that we designed and built with skills he had acquired from working with his very knowledgeable father. Rene always took great pride in a job well done.

Rene was a nature lover and we enjoyed spending many hours at Birds Hill Park cycling, blading, skiing, and outdoor picnics. We vacationed in Mexico, Cuba, and Hawaii, but our trip of a lifetime was a cycling adventure in the South of France to celebrate our “25th” Anniversary. Mini vacations with family and much loved pets Phoebe & Yuki were just an hour away at our cottage where it was always a “beautiful day”. There he enjoyed manicuring his “park” enjoying bonfires, guitar sing songs, star gazing and relaxing in the hot tub.
Our family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff at CancerCare. Special thanks to Dr. Dao and nurse Brittany’s exceptional care for making an extremely difficult 5 year journey much more tolerable. Thank you to HSC E.R. staff and wonderful care especially from nurses Anita and Chris on our last days there.
We thank those who were able to gather during Rene’s final days. We acknowledge those who were unable to be there in person and thank them for sending love and prayers his way. A private family celebration of Rene’s life will be held at a later date. “Til we meet again my Love”
As per Rene’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to CancerCare or Multiple Myeloma Canada would be greatly appreciated.
